iLLuMiNa Girls Camp weekend for Girls and the Beloved women in their lives!

I'm excited to announce that I'll be co-directing the first ever iLLuMiNa Girls Camp weekend designed for girls AND their moms, aunts, grandmothers, and whomever they might like to invite.

Talented teaching artist and mother, Nadine Smith, will be team leading the camp.  We will lead the girls and grown girls in all kinds of adventures:  art, dance, exploration, creating vision maps, games, and a fantastic feast of appreciation on Saturday night.

More details soon.  For now, mark your calendars for Saturday and Sunday, August 15 - 16, at my home studio in Shoreline, Washington.

iLLuMiNa Girls Camp Summer 2014 in Paonia Colorado

iLLuMiNa Girls Camp !  Here are a few great pictures from last year's camp.  The girls were really wonderful, so open to sisterhood and adventure.  The Blue Sage provided their cozy, historic apartment for us to make into our "clubhouse" for the week.   Several Mentor women joined us in our activities:  we created ceramic vessels with Tara, hiked on Jumbo with Mary,  Belly danced with Heidi, and swam in the North Fork with Lynn.  And at our Hafla feast, moms, aunts and other beloved guests joined us to celebrate the joys of being a well-loved and supported girl!

iLLuMiNa Girls Camp in Paonia, Colorado ! July 28 - August 1 at the Blue Sage

Me and Boris in the garden I'm excited to be offering iLLuMiNa Girls Camp for the first time in                    Paoina, Colorado !  

During the last week of July (July 28 - Aug 1), girls ages 9 - 13 can join me for a week of arts, adventure and empowerment at the Blue Sage. 

Our special guest teacher will be Nyssa Yassa, also known as Heidi Hudek, 

and she'll share belly dancing with us. 

 

Ah, the lushness of summertime! 

                    ILLuMiNa Girls Camp is a unique summer day camp, 

                                 combining arts, adventure, and empowerment.

Fun and friendship are the core, with trust building games and magical tools that can change a girl's life, as she crosses the threshold into adolescents; girls and their moms have told me this, after iGC in the previous 6 summers I've directed the program (in Seattle) although it is also unique each time.  

Girls have an inner compass guiding all their decisions and adventures – I'll guide them in learning to use that compass more consciously, and powerfully.  

Thursday evening features a “Hafla”, a feast the girls prepare to share with the special women in their lives!  Following this, the girls will have an overnight campout at the Blue Sage. 

Friday is a shorter day, culminating in the girls to sharing their finished art work.

Hours:  9 am - 3 pm, Monday - Thursday

Hafla:  Thursday evening, 6 - 8 plus an overnight campout

Friday 9 - 1 pm

Nurturing the Spirit through Art and Adventure

Join us for 3 full days of arts camp specially designed for girls ages 8 - 15, centered around creativity and core strengths.

Enjoy visual art, dance, games and friendship.

This year's focus will be on using a process that combines your intuition and intellect for clear, empowering choices. You've heard the saying "Use the force!" from Star Wars.  Now learn to direct your life force to create as much good as possible in every situation.  Girls experience an amazing expansion of their perceptive abilities at this time in their lives.  With a little coaching, these gifts can bring greater joy, friendship, freedom, and trust in our selves and each other.  

  Here's an opportunity to make wild and beautiful artwork, explore crafts, yoga and dancing, and to simply relish the ease of summer – Popsicles, henna tattoos, improv games, and lolling about... based in Shoreline, with a special field trip: canoeing on Lake Washington, and an overnight campout!

Recycled and biodegradable materials will be employed in all our art projects.

Thursday night will include a feast and backyard camp out, which the girls will plan.
